If your camera has a built-in microphone, check that the cameraÆs microphone plug is connected properly to your sound card.
If your camera does not have a built-in microphone, check that a separate microphone is connected properly to your sound
card.
Make sure that the Microphone check box is the selected input device in your Recording Properties dialog box and that the
recording level is set at an appropriate level.
To set the recording level for your microphone
From the Start menu, point to Settings; then choose Control Panel.
The Control Panel is displayed.
Click or double click the Multimedia icon to open the Multimedia Control Panel.
With the Audio tab selected, use the Recording Volume slider to adjust the recording level.

If your Multimedia Control Panel does not have a recording Volume slider, click to display the recording
Properties dialog box. Use this dialog box to adjust the recording level for your microphone.
